Treasurer

Joan Cannon was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Interior Architecture. She worked in the field for 11 years before deciding to stay home with her 3 children who are now all grown up and fun to hang out with and visit. She just completed her first year of retirement from her second career as the Attendance Clerk at Hillcrest school in Oakland and is enjoying watching her golf score slowly get better. Her favorite food is anything Italian and her favorite movie is Roman Holiday (is there a theme here?). Joan’s favorite Kappa memory is meeting Cheryl Vennerstrom in the bus station in Manhattan Kansas. They both took Greyhound buses to school that summer so they could go thru rush, (do you believe their parents let them do that?!) Cheryl was from Fargo, North Dakota. As they were looking around the bus station trying to figure out their next move, they met each other and both ended up pledging Kappa and a lifelong friendship was born.

Hali Burbige graduated from the University of California, Davis with a BA in Rhetoric & Communication, later completing her MBA at Berkeley-Haas. She currently works at PG&E developing marketing strategy to create awareness of PG&E's low-income programs. Hali loves animals, spending her free time volunteering at the Cat Town Cafe. When she's not working to get cats adopted, she's lavishing attention on her niece, Claire. Kappa was critical in helping Hali develop a sense of confidence and motivation to do good in the world, and introduced he to a group of amazing women who became lifelong friends.
